New Beginnings

What a wonderful way to begin the new year by finding out your 4 weeks pregnant!!

Let me introduce my family and myself to you...

I am Stacey and am 33 years old. I am married to an amazing man, Kyle. I have a 12 year old daughter, Madison and 6 year old son, Tyler. I also have a step son, Chayden, who is 9. So, although this will be my third child, it will be our fourth child in our family. This is mine and Kyle's first baby together. We did get pregnant right after we got married, at miscarried at 8 weeks in August of 2010. This is our first pregnancy since then. So, needless to say...we're really looking forward to the 10 week mark!

Our pregnancy story...

My wonderful husband bought plane tickets for me to go visit my best friend in California for the week of January 5-12. As they say, distance makes the heart grow fonder...and you also lose you senses! We are usually very careful, especially around the week I'm expected to ovulate. Well, this is where the "lose your senses" part comes in...when I returned home on Saturday, January 12, we obviously didn't care what time of the month it was! One week later I was checking my "My Days" app on my phone and realized my estimated ovulation date was January 13th. Oh My...was my first thought! So, I started taking my prenatal vitamins and cutting down on the caffeine intake (I love coffee!). It wasn't until last week, January 21-25 that I really realized this could really be happening. I was exhausted, hungry all the time and having sugar crash type feelings.

On Thursday, January 24 I decided I could possibly get a positive pregnancy test since I was due to start on Saturday. It was a very, very faint positive. I took a second test on Saturday, January 26 and it was a distinct positive. This is the day I told my husband, Kyle. If was a bit speechless...but excited! He did tell me he might have taken the news a bit better had I gotten rid of my morning breath first! But, when you're that excited, you don't think of things like that!

I'm starting to have a few early pregnancy symptoms...very sore breasts, slight nausea, dizziness/lightheadedness, sleeplessness/exhaustion, and hunger pains that make me feel like my stomach is going to devour me! But these are all signs that my body is right on track to grow this little one in my womb.

I called my OB doctor this morning to set up my first appointment. And, since I've had a miscarriage in the past, he wants to see me on Wednesday, February 9. I already have a list of questions ready for the appointment.

Until then...count your blessings and have a thankful heart!

Stacey
